In a bid to foster stronger community ties and enhance public safety, operatives of the Nasarawa State Police Command embarked on a large-scale sanitation exercise across major towns, including Lafia and Karu, as part of activities marking National Police Day.
Commissioner of Police, Shetima Jauro Mohammed, while addressing officers in Lafia, reaffirmed the force’s dedication to ensuring a secure environment, emphasizing that security remains a cornerstone of economic development. He urged personnel to use the occasion to reflect on their roles, refine their strategies, and intensify efforts in their respective postings.
Beyond security, the Commissioner highlighted the significance of environmental cleanliness, stating that a healthier community contributes to a more resilient society. He called for enhanced collaboration between law enforcement agencies, community leaders, youth organizations, and vigilante groups to strengthen grassroots security surveillance.
As part of the initiative, police officers engaged in cleaning major public spaces, including motor parks and marketplaces, while also clearing drainage systems to improve sanitation and public hygiene.
The initiative reflects the force’s commitment to community-oriented policing, reinforcing trust and cooperation between the police and the public.
