Global music icon Beyonce Knowles-Carter made a highly anticipated return to fashion’s biggest night, co-chairing the 2026 Met Gala after a decade-long absence.

The annual fundraiser, held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, celebrated the Costume Institute’s latest exhibition themed “Costume Art,” with a dress code of “Fashion Is Art.” The event marked the opening of the institute’s new permanent galleries and drew some of the biggest names in entertainment, fashion, and sports.

Beyonce led the evening alongside fellow co-chairs Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams, and Anna Wintour.

The singer made a grand red carpet entrance with her husband, Jay-Z, and their daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, who made her Met Gala debut.

In a video interview shared via Instagram, Beyonce expressed excitement about sharing the experience with her daughter, describing the moment as emotional and memorable.

“It feels surreal to be here because my daughter is here and it is incredible to share this with her,” she said.

For the occasion, Beyonce wore a custom-designed gown by Olivier Rousteing. The outfit featured a skin-tone mesh base adorned with a striking diamond skeleton design, paired with matching gloves, embodying the night’s artistic theme.

Her appearance marked her first at the Met Gala since 2016, sparking widespread conversation among fans and industry watchers, many of whom see it as the beginning of a new chapter following her “Cowboy Carter” era.

The night also featured notable family moments, including Nicole Kidman attending with her daughter, Sunday Rose Kidman Urban. Other standout appearances included bold and artistic interpretations of the theme by stars such as Rihanna, who arrived fashionably late in signature style.

The 2026 Met Gala once again underscored its reputation as a global stage where fashion, art, and celebrity culture intersect.
