Former Zamfara State Governor and current Senator representing Zamfara West, Abdul’azeez Yari Abubakar, has extended support to victims of the recent Nigerian Air Force airstrike in Maradun Local Government Area, donating twenty-three million and 105 bags of food items.
The donation was announced during a condolence visit to the Emir of Maradun, Alhaji Garba Muhammad Tambari, at his palace.
Representing Senator Yari, Alhaji Muhammad Muttaƙa Rini, the Federal Commissioner of the National Population Commission in Zamfara State, described the tragic incident as an act of destiny, urging the victims’ families to accept it as the will of Allah.
Under the relief package, each family of the deceased will receive one million and five bags of food, while injured survivors will receive 500,000 thousand Naira and two bags of food each.
The Senator expressed his condolences, praying for eternal peace for the 13 deceased victims and a swift recovery for the 20 injured individuals.
He reaffirmed the federal government’s commitment, under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to restoring peace and stability in Zamfara and the Northwest region.
The Emir of Maradun, Alhaji Garba Muhammad Tambari, responded on behalf of the victims, expressing gratitude for the Senator’s generosity.
He noted that the intervention would significantly ease the burdens of the affected families and praised Senator Yari for his consistent dedication to addressing the needs of his constituents.
The victims of the airstrike were predominantly from Kakindawa village in Gidan Goga District, Maradun Emirate.
The tragedy has underscored the urgent need for measures to enhance security and protect civilians in the region.
