The Jigawa State Executive Council has approved over N4.8 billion for the 2025 Ramadan feeding programme, aimed at supporting residents during the holy month.
The State Commissioner for Information, Youth, Sports, and Culture, Alhaji Sagir Musa Ahmed, disclosed this after a council meeting at the Government House in Dutse, the state capital. He stated that the initiative would be jointly funded by the State Government, contributing 55%, and Local Governments, contributing 45%.
The programme will cover 630 feeding centers, ensuring at least two centers in each of the state’s 287 wards. Additionally, feeding will be provided at Juma’at mosques, prisons, rehabilitation centers, motor parks, markets, and the 15 tertiary institutions across Jigawa State.
To ensure smooth implementation, the council has established a committee to develop a detailed roadmap for the programme, as presented by the Commissioner for Special Duties, Auwal Danladi Sankara.
The Ramadan feeding initiative demonstrates Jigawa State’s commitment to social welfare and inclusivity during the fasting period.
