The Kebbi State Government has confirmed the killing of over Sixty Five vigilante and unspecified number of soldiers in Zurich by bandits.
The State Governor, Senator Atiku Bagudu, who made the confirmation through Secretary to the government of the state, Alhaji Babale Umar Yauri, when he received on a courtesy visit the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyema.
Governor Bagudu, said that, the state was making serious effort in tackling the insecurity faced by the southern part of the state as a result of banditry.
“Sixty five vigilante were killed in an ambush by the bandits in the last three days while some military personnel were also killed this Tuesday night”.
The Governor commended the effort of the Federal Government for evacuating Nigerians back home from Ukraine as a result of the between Russia and Ukraine.
Earlier, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyema, said he was in Kebbi state by the directive of the Nigerian President to symphatised and condole with the government and people of the state over recent killing of vigilante in Zuru axises of the state.
“The International communities are symphatising and consoling with the government and good people of the state”.
The Minister said, President Muhammadu Buhari, has urged the state to stand firm on dealing with the challenges of the banditry in the state.
“No retreat and we will not be bound with the challenges of banditry and terrorists in the Northern states”.
The Minister explained, the President approved money for the evacuation of Nigerians in Ukraine saying, we have evacuated first and second batch of Nigerians and only remain the last batch from Ukraine.
He therefore prayed for the repose of the soul of deceased ones and the family to bear the irreparable loss.
