The Government of Adamawa State says it has approved over ₦3 billion in the 2022 budget for the three delivery platforms of the NG-CARES Programmes in the state.
The Deputy Governor of Adamawa, Chief Crowther Seth, made known in Yola, the capital city, during a courtesy visit of the officials of NG- CARES Support Unit and the World Bank to the State.
The programme also is aimed at mitigating the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on the livelihoods of poor and vulnerable households and micro-enterprises in the country.
The Deputy Governor, said the mission and vision of NG-CARES program were in line with the state government’s 11-point agenda, which include: Agriculture, Industrialization and wealth creation, water supply, youth empowerment, women and so on.
Sethe described the programme as people-oriented, he added that the state government was on course to support such development initiatives through the delivery platforms of FADAMA, Community Social Development Programme and PAWECA.
The deputy governor commended the Federal Government and the World Bank for the partnership, stressing that it has laudable potential of lifting the people out of abject poverty
Speaking earlier, Abdulkarim Obaje, National Coordinator, Federal NG-CARES, said they were on an implementation support mission of the program to Adamawa and that all the 36 states had gotten approval of N35.3 billion by the World Bank through the Federal Government in March 2022.
He added that Adamawa on its part received nine hundred million to enable its delivery platforms kick start the implementation of the NG-CARES programme.
