President Muhammadu Buhari has hosted APC members aspiring to be National Chairman of the party to a dinner.
The outcome of the closed-door interaction was not disclosed, but our correspondent
reports that it was a deeper reconciliation effort aimed at persuading the aspirants to sincerely accept a consensus candidate for the national chairman of the party.
The Chairmen Caretaker and Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee of the APC and Governor of Yobe State Mai Mala Buni, Chief of Staff to the President, Professor Ibrahim Gambari, and Secretary To The Government of the Federation, Mr. Boss Mustapha, were also in attendance.
Prior to President Buhari’s latest engagement with the aspirants, he granted audience to members of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, during which issues relating to the APC national convention were discussed and adopted.
While briefing State House correspondents after the Governors’ meeting with the President, they declared support to the President’s preferred candidate for the national chairmanship position.
