The National Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN says that the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Mr. Godwin Emefiele has not maintained the political neutrality of the apex financial body by aspiring for the President of the Country and needed to resign.
The President of the Council, Comrade Solomon Adodo stated this in a letter to Mr. Emefiele demanding for his resignation in seven days.
Comrade Adodo explained that by such aspiration, Mr. Emefiele had became partisan, which could be dangerous to the 2023 general election.
He said that such action had cast aspersions on the integrity and fairness spirit of President Muhammadu Buhari which he fought so much to build over the years.
The Youth Leader regretted that Nigerians, especially Youths had endured the poor monetary policies under the CBN Governor, which made a mess of the Naira against other foreign currencies.
He also said that Nigerians were also battling with corruption and lack of productivity that bedeviled the programmes of the CBN, including the poorly executed Anchor Borrowers Scheme, and advised the CBN Governor to take the path of honour and resign his position.
