To tackle issues of insecurity orchestrated by illegal structures in Kuje Area Council, Traditional Rulers have endorsed the proposed demolition of illegal structures and massive clean up in Kuje town by the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA).
The Gomo of Kuje, HRH Alhaji Haruna Jibrin and other critical stakeholders who gave their support at a Stakeholder Engagement and Sensitization forum in Abuja, expressed optimism that the exercise would restore sanity and security in the Council.
The Gomo of Kuje noted that he has always interacted with different segments of the society in the Council to maintain peace and order, and had looked forward to more collaborative efforts from all government agencies.
The Principal Secretary to Kuje Area Council, Abdullahi Sabo who represented, the Council’s Chairman, Abdullahi Sulaiman Sabo , disclosed that the Council Officials have endorsed the coming of the bulldozers, but pleaded that more time should be given to allow residents salvage their properties.
Senior Special Assistant to FCT Minister on Monitoring, Inspection and Enforcement,Comrade Ikharo Attah, who convened the meeting, warned that after one week ultimatum, the administration would be left with no choice, but to roll out the bulldozers.
Comrade Attah hinted that the FCT Minister, Malam Muhammad Bello recently expressed concern over the deteriorating state of both security and environmental infrastructures in the kuje area; and had given them the backing to tackle it head-on.
Comrade Attah therefore urged all the stakeholders, to use the one week to move out from all the illegal places to avoid unnecessary losses.

” The overflow from Kuje market must be taken to the two new markets close by. Those selling perishables will be taken to farmers market, we are saying it in strong terms .
