FRCN DG Tasks Journalists On Frequent Medical Checks

Journalists have been advised to always go for medical checks to ensure they are in good health condition while carrying out their duties.
The Director General of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, Dr Mansur Liman gave the advice during a medical outreach organized for all journalists in the Federal Capital Territory in Radio House, Abuja.
The MEDICAL OUTREACH was organized by the NUJ FRCN Headquarters Chapel in collaboration with the Association of Nigerian Health Journalists, ANHEJ and an NGO, Excellent Leadership For Sustainable Development and Good Governance.
Declaring the event open, the Director General, represented by the Secretary Legal, Dr. David Angbazo, explained that the health of every journalist was fundamental towards effectiveness on the job.
He commended the Union and the collaborators and urged them to sustain the efforts.
In a welcome address, the Chairperson of the NUJ FRCN Headquarters Chapel, Comrade Sandra Udeike pointed out that most journalists were usually very busy and sometimes neglect their health, which could be detrimental.
Comrade Udeike gave an assurance that the Union would continue to strive for the welfare of it’s members at all times.
The President, Association of Nigerian Health Journalists, ANHEJ, Mr. Hassan Zaggi said the aim of the outreach was to reduce incidences of untimely deaths and avoidable emergencies as well as hazards journalists go through while performing their duties.
While giving a talk on Cancer, a representative of an International NGO, OCI Foundation, Dr. Fatima Inusa Anga, harped on the need for early cancer screenings and tests for early detection and treatment.
The Executive Director of another NGO, Excellent Leadership For Sustainable Development and Good Governance, Dr. Eunice Bosua said her organization would ensure that the event happens annually.
Our Correspondent reports that there were checks such as free eye examination, sugar level, blood pressure and hypatitis B checks.
