The National Youth Service Corps, NYSC has warned corps members on adhoc duties during the forthcoming election to avoid any form of gratification, and avoid any flash points.
Addressing Journalists in Abuja, the Director General of the Scheme, Brigadier General Yushau Ahmed announced that over two hundred thousand Corps Members were participating in the general election.
The DG unveiled He a distress call center that would enable corps members to get help in case of any security alert.During every general election, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC usually engage corps members as adhoc staff and they are distributed across the country.
With the insecurity and cash crunch in the Country, most Nigerians have raised concerns about a smooth outing, few days to the elections.
However, the Director General of the NYSC, Brigadier General Yushau Ahmed had given an assurance that there was adequate arrangements for the protection of Corps Members on Electoral Duties as well as improved renumeration.
General Ahmed said corps members would not work at high security prone areas, and advised those on electoral duties to be fully dressed in there corpers uniform.
The DG said that adequate trainings had been given to the corps members and that any corps member found to have compromised would face the full wrath of the law.
The Director General advised the corps members to reach out to the scheme through it’s new four digits distress call number.
