The National Youth Service Corps NYSC says it has reached out to over four million Nigerians through it’s Health Initiative For Rural Dwellers, HIRD since inception.
The Director General of the Scheme, Brigadier General Yushau Ahmed stated this in a message to a programme to commence this year’s edition at an IDP camp, Malaysia Community, Mechanic Village, in Abuja.
Represented by the Director Legal Studies, Mr. Tijani Ibrahim stated that many lives had been saved through the medical outreaches of the Scheme.
The NYSC Director General said the programme was initiated to tackle the challenge of inadequate health care facilities faced mostly in rural communities.

The Secretary of the Malaysia Community, Mr. Makinta Ibrahim called on the Government to provide clinics for the Internally Displaced Persons as they were suffering from various healthcare needs.
