Kwara State Independent Electoral Commission, KWASIEC says it will provide a level playing ground for all the political parties in the forthcoming Local Government election in the state and conduct an election that will be transparent, credible and acceptable to all.
KWASIEC Chairman, Mr OKanla Baba gave the assurance while addressing chairmen of political parties in the state ahead of the September 21 local council election.
He said the purpose of the meeting was to intimate the key players on rules and guidelines for the local council election, while soliciting their understanding and cooperation.
According to the timetable of the election, party primaries will be conducted between June 24 and 30, while campaigns by the political parties and their candidates will start from August 19 and end on September 20 2024.
The gathering, which was attended by about seventeen chairmen of various political parties in the state, provided them the opportunity to ask questions on grey areas especially on issues bordering on the amount for the collection of expression of interest form and security arrangements before and during the polls.
