A Non-Governmental Organization, Global Association of Female Attorneys, GAFA has called on good spirited Nigerians to make deliberate efforts towards alleviating the plights of the less privileged especially during the present hardship in the Country.
The President of the Association, Mrs. Chinelo Iriele made the call when she led a delegation on a visit to the Saint Mary’s Orphanage in Gwagwalada, Abuja.
Mrs. Iriele explained that apart from the donation of food items and money to the Orphanage, it’s duty was also to ensure that the children were catered for and in good environment.
Mrs. Iriele stated that the Association engages with stakeholders at all levels to advocate for the respect of human rights as well as embark on Sensitization on reproductive health and the ills of gender based violence.
Responding, the representative of the Orphanage, Reverend Sister Julia Elochukwu said they take care of orphans and destitute, train them to University level and called for the support of Nigerians.
Sister Elochukwu however expressed the displeasure that some men that brought their babies after the loss of the wives usually abandon them and fail to contribute to their upkeep.
