The Executive Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has announced the appointment of Aliyu Zubairu as the new head coach of the National Men’s U20 football team, the Flying Eagles.
The decision was disclosed on Tuesday by Ademola Olajire, The NFF’s director of communications.
Zubairu’s appointment follows the recommendation of the NFF’s Technical and Development Sub-Committee and takes immediate effect. Zubairu, who recently led El-Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri to victory in the President Federation Cup, defeating Abia Warriors FC in Lagos in June, is set to bring his expertise to the national stage.
His first assignment as head coach will be to assemble and prepare the Flying Eagles for the upcoming WAFU B U20 Championship, which is scheduled to take place in October and November in Togo. The tournament will determine the zone’s representative for the 2024 Africa U20 Cup of Nations.
