Popular relationship coach and cleric, Pastor Kingsley Okonkwo, has reacted publicly to the controversy surrounding his recently revealed tattoo, responding to widespread reactions from Nigerians on social media.
Speaking during his 50th birthday celebration, Pastor Okonkwo addressed critics who had questioned his decision to get a tattoo, describing the online debate as unnecessary.
He stated that he would provide a detailed explanation at a later date, emphasizing that his response would be based on scriptural teachings and proper context.
According to the cleric, misconceptions about Christianity in Africa have contributed to the backlash. He argued that many believers still practise what he described as a blend of African traditional beliefs and Christianity, rather than what he termed “pure Christianity.”
Pastor Okonkwo assured his audience that he would address the issue formally for educational purposes, promising to clarify biblical perspectives on tattoos.
He, however, declined to engage further on the matter during the celebration, urging critics to remain calm while he enjoyed his birthday event.
The comments come amid sustained online discussions, with supporters and critics offering differing views on whether tattoos align with Christian values and pastoral conduct.
