Pope Leo XIV  has called for dialogue and peace amid rising tensions in the Middle East following the reported death of Ali Hosseini Khamenei.

In a statement shared on his official X account on Sunday, the Pope urged all parties involved to pursue “reasonable, sincere, and responsible dialogue” to prevent the situation from escalating into a large-scale tragedy.

The Pope expressed deep concern over the U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran, which reportedly killed Khamenei along with several government officials.

He stressed that true stability and peace cannot be achieved through threats or the use of weapons, warning that such actions only lead to “destruction, suffering, and death.”
