The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that the 2025 Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise will commence nationwide on Monday, August 18, 2025.
The electoral body made this known via its official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Friday, outlining a two-phase process for new and returning voters. According to INEC, online pre-registration will open on August 18 through its official portal: https://cvr.inecnigeria.org.
The in-person registration phase is scheduled to begin a week later, on Monday, August 25, across all INEC local government offices and designated registration centers nationwide. The physical registration will run Mondays to Fridays from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
INEC emphasized the importance of early registration, urging eligible Nigerians not to wait until the last minute.
“Your votes start with registration. Don’t miss your opportunity to register,” the commission said.
The CVR exercise is a critical step in preparing for the upcoming general elections, allowing eligible citizens to register, update their details, or transfer voting locations.
