The Nigerian Special Eagles amputee football team have advanced to the semi-finals of the inaugural West Africa Para Games in Abeokuta after a 1–0 victory over Cameroon on Sunday at the MKO Abiola Sports Arena.
Ahmed Usman scored the decisive goal, capitalizing on a defensive error to secure Nigeria’s second straight win.
The Special Eagles controlled the match throughout, limiting Cameroon’s chances and maintaining pressure in attack.
The team had earlier delivered an emphatic 11–0 win over Benin Republic in their opening match, with standout contributions from Ahmed Usman (four goals), Michael Joel (three goals), Ahize Daniel (three goals), and Ibrahim Ndako (one goal).
Nigeria will face Liberia on Monday in their final group game, which will determine whether they progress to Wednesday’s championship final.
The maiden edition of the West Africa Para Games, hosted across multiple venues in Ogun State, features more than 700 athletes competing in various para-sport categories.
