Real Madrid’s number one transfer target for the summer is believed to be Jude Bellingham. But it will not be easy to sign the English midfielder. On one hand, the likes of Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea and PSG are also believed to be interested in him. On the other hand, rumours have suggested that it will take a transfer fee close to €150 million to convince Borussia Dortmund to part ways with their star man.
Bellingham would be the perfect signing for Real Madrid. But considering the circumstances, the club must keep their eyes on other midfielders as well.
And it looks like a midfielder, already playing in La Liga, has caught their eye. As reported by Cadena SER, Real Madrid have their eyes on Gabri Veiga and know that he has a release clause around €40 million. They would not match it but could negotiate with the inclusion of a player.
Of course, Veiga has been a breakout star this season. And city rivals, Atletico Madrid, are also believed to be interested in the Celta Vigo midfielder.
Real Madrid want breakout star with €40 million release clause
Veiga is enjoying a breakout campaign this time around. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 8 goals and provided 3 assists in 26 appearances for Celta Vigo this season till now across all competitions.
Veiga is just 20 years of age and has plenty of room to get even better. Thus, it is not hard to understand why some of the biggest clubs in Spain are already being linked with him. It is worth pointing out that Celta Vigo have not been particularly impressive as a team this season, which make the youngster’s performances even more noteworthy.
Signing someone like Veiga would be considered as a major coup for sure. But it does not look like he is their number one target, which remains Bellingham.
