Super Bowl-winning NFL player Moro Ojomo has proposed the creation of an academy to support Nigerian-born athletes pursuing careers abroad.
Ojomo shared his vision during a visit to the Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Mrs. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, in Abuja, where he emphasized the importance of giving back to his roots and empowering young Nigerians through sports.
“As a champion, I believe in investing in the next generation,” Ojomo stated. “An academy for Nigerian-born athletes abroad will help nurture talent and create opportunities for success.”
Dabiri-Erewa, who hosted Ojomo along with his parents and siblings, praised his dedication to both his sport and his heritage.
“Home will always be home,” she said, commending his efforts to support aspiring Nigerian athletes.
She also invited Ojomo to the upcoming Diaspora Day, where he will share his experiences and inspire young Nigerians looking to excel in international sports.
Ojomo’s proposed initiative is expected to provide mentorship, training, and resources to help Nigerian athletes navigate professional sports careers abroad. His commitment to fostering young talent reflects a broader push to leverage Nigeria’s athletic potential on the global stage.
