The Ogun State Police Command has launched an investigation into the sudden and mysterious death of a 20-year-old Information Technology graduate of Babcock University, Ilisan Remo.

The deceased, identified as Akawa Boluwatife Samuel, was reportedly brought to the Babcock University Teaching Hospital by his roommates on the morning of Wednesday, July 30, 2025, where he was confirmed dead by the attending physician.

Security sources told Zagazola Makama that Boluwatife had complained of cold and breathing difficulties on July 27 and was advised to visit the university’s medical centre. However, he had continued with his clearance process ahead of graduation and had expressed plans to return home shortly.

According to one of his roommates, Adili Leonard Chimdindu, the late graduate was in high spirits the night before his death and had stayed up playing games on his laptop until about 11 p.m. He was tragically found unresponsive the next morning.

Police detectives who arrived at the scene documented the incident and obtained a statement from the deceased’s elder brother, Akawa Toluwanimi John. The body has since been deposited at the university morgue for autopsy and further preservation.

Authorities say investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of death.
