The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has announced a reduction in the pump price of petrol following improved fuel supply from the Dangote Refinery.
As of Saturday, NNPCL adjusted the retail price at its filling stations from ₦955 to ₦945 per litre, marking a ₦10 decrease. The new pricing has already taken effect in several locations across Abuja, including Gwarimpa and Wuse Zone 4.
Private fuel marketers have also responded to the development, with major players such as Eterna Plcaligning their pump prices to match the new rate of ₦945 per litre.
The latest price adjustment came after weeks of petrol scarcity and rising costs caused by earlier supply disruptions at the Dangote Refinery. With production and distribution now stabilising, fuel availability across the country has improved significantly.
However, experts caution that the relief may be temporary as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s recent approval of a 15% import tax on petrol and diesel could trigger another increase in pump prices in the coming weeks, depending on market reactions and import volumes.
