Felix Morka, National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has reaffirmed President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to Nigeria’s long-term economic and political health, asserting that the president is making bold decisions, not seeking “cheap popularity.”
Speaking in an interview on ARISE News on Wednesday, Morka lauded Tinubu’s administration for taking on some of Nigeria’s toughest economic challenges through sweeping reforms. “In just one year, President Tinubu has done more to redirect the country’s economic trajectory than any of his predecessors,” Morka said.
He criticised recent comments by opposition leaders—including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, ex-Kaduna governor Nasir El-Rufai, and former Transport Minister Rotimi Amaechi—as lacking substance. According to Morka, their critiques fail to offer viable alternatives or policy prescriptions.
“Not one of them has provided a serious, informed alternative to what the president is doing. It’s all politicking,” he said.
Morka urged Nigerians to rise above partisan rhetoric and focus on the administration’s tangible achievements. He cited the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway as a prime example of Tinubu’s ambitious infrastructure push. “When have we ever embarked on a project so critical and bold? The Coastal Highway is a game-changer,” he said.
On matters of electoral integrity, Morka reiterated the autonomy of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), stating that it remains the only statutory authority empowered to regulate party registrations and electoral processes. “INEC operates strictly under legal parameters, not political influence,” he clarified.
He concluded by appealing to citizens to remain hopeful and united in support of national progress. “Beyond politics and drama, we must be optimistic. We must wish our country well,” Morka said.
