Nollywood actress Angela Okorie has tendered a public apology to her colleague Mercy Johnson, as well as Johnson’s children and family, following past misunderstandings and online exchanges between the two stars.
In an emotional video shared on her Instagram page, Okorie thanked her fans for their continued support before addressing the issue directly.
“Hi everybody, this is your one and only Legit Queen. I just want to say a very big thank you to all my fans around the world. I’m not a perfect being. Yes, I am not,” she said.
Okorie explained that the message was specifically meant for Mercy Johnson and her loved ones.
“So this video is specifically for Mercy and her kids and her family,” she stated.
Reflecting on her growth and changing priorities, the actress noted that industry gossip had fueled their past disagreements.
“When you are getting older, a lot of things will be leaving you. While we were growing in the industry, some people will come and tell me that Mercy said, some people will tell me that Angela said. There have been issues, quarrels and chaos, and at this age, I don’t think this is what I want.”
Offering a direct apology, Okorie said she regretted any hurtful words she may have shared online.
“I just want to apologise to you if it’s just my words, if it’s the words I have written anytime your name pops out on social media. I am deeply sorry. You are not a witch. You are not what people are calling you. This is just to say I am sorry.”
She also highlighted the importance of peace for the sake of their children.
“We don’t know where our kids will meet each other tomorrow. They might be best of friends. These kids have been travelling far and wide. They can meet anywhere in the world and they can be best of friends, and we as mothers, we cannot stop them from being friends.”
Condemning bullying, Okorie expressed concern over reports that Johnson’s children were being targeted at school.
“I do not love the fact that they call Mercy’s kids, which is bullying them in school and all that. If they do it to my child, I won’t take it.”
Reiterating her call for peace, the actress added:
“So this is to say I am sorry. Deeply sorry for everything. Like the Bible will say, make peace with all men. I am making peace with everybody. I don’t know who I might have offended. Please, knowingly or unknowingly, biko.”
Describing the reconciliation as a new beginning, Okorie said she had resolved never to entertain gossip again.
“Mercy, this is a new beginning. You are my friend and you are still my friend. I will never listen to whatever anybody’s gonna tell me about you again. If there is anything I hear, I will give you a call.”
She further revealed that both actresses had already spoken privately.
“Like when we spoke on the phone, you apologised to me, said you’re sorry, and I accepted you wholeheartedly.”
Okorie concluded the video by affirming her goodwill toward Johnson and offering prayers for her colleague’s success.
“God in heaven knows that I don’t have anything against you. I love you, and I pray that God blesses you and lifts you higher wherever you are in Jesus’ name.”
Meanwhile, report had it that Okorie was recently arrested in Lagos by operatives of the Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department over a seven-count charge bordering on alleged cyberstalking, threats and harassment. She was later granted bail in the sum of ₦5 million.
