Kikelomo Atanda-Owo, wife of veteran journalist and former presidential adviser Reuben Abati, has opened up about her past marriages, revealing that she was divorced twice before marrying the media personality.

Atanda-Owo made the disclosure during an appearance on The Morayo Show, hosted by media personality Morayo Afolabi-Brown, where she featured alongside her husband.

She explained that her previous relationships played a significant role in shaping her understanding of love, healing, and self-worth.

According to her, her first marriage ended after she discovered she had unknowingly married a gay man, while her second marriage was marked by abuse and infidelity.

She said the experiences were emotionally traumatic but ultimately contributed to her personal growth and healing.

Reflecting on her journey, Atanda-Owo noted that the failed marriages taught her the importance of self-awareness, intentionality, and discernment when choosing a life partner. She emphasized that love alone is not enough to sustain a healthy marriage.

A marketing communications executive and Chief Executive Officer of Z-Edge Holdings, Atanda-Owo married Abati in 2023 as his third wife.

She said she harbours no regrets over her past, adding that her children remain the greatest blessings to come from those relationships.

Also speaking during the interview, Reuben Abati said their union was built on shared values, intellectual compatibility, and mutual respect, rather than material considerations.

He urged individuals in abusive relationships to seek help and find a safe way out, stressing that there is hope and healing after painful experiences.
