The House of Representatives Committee on Public Petitions has summoned the Minister of Labour and Employment, Muhammadu Dingyadi, over his failure to inaugurate the board of the Nigerian Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF).
The summons follows a petition filed by a non-governmental organization, Obasi-Pherson Help Foundation, which raised concerns over the prolonged delay in the inauguration despite President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s appointment of a Managing Director for the fund months ago.
Responding to the petition, Committee Chairman Mike Etaba stressed the importance of the minister appearing in person to address the concerns. He emphasized that the delay in the board’s inauguration casts doubt on the government’s commitment to due process, making it necessary for the minister to clarify the situation.
Additionally, the committee has invited NSITF Managing Director Faleye Mayomi to respond to allegations of project clearance violations
