The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of 11 Plc, Adetunji Oyebanji, is set to retire this month, marking the end of a remarkable 45-year career in Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.
The development was disclosed in an official notice signed by the company secretary, Chris Olumayowa Meseko. According to the notice, Oyebanji’s retirement takes effect this month.
The Board of Directors of 11 Plc expressed gratitude for his leadership and contributions, noting that his legacy would inspire future generations.
“The Board of Directors acknowledged Mr. Oyebanji’s remarkable career with the company, which is a testament to his unwavering commitment, passion, and expertise in the oil and gas industry,” the notice stated.
“We thank Mr. Oyebanji for his tireless efforts and dedication to 11 Plc and wish him a happy and healthy retirement. His contributions to the company’s success will continue to inspire future leaders,” it added.
Oyebanji began his career at Mobil Oil Nigeria Plc in 1980 as a Marketing Representative Trainee. Over the years, he rose through various leadership roles including Planning Associate, Pricing Manager, District Manager, Branch Manager, Manager Fuels Services, and Executive Director Fuels.
Following the divestment of ExxonMobil, he became the Managing Director and CEO of 11 Plc, guiding the company through significant transformation and growth.
Beyond his corporate role, Oyebanji has made substantial contributions to the Nigerian oil and gas sector and the wider economy. He currently serves as President and Chairman of the Council of the Chartered Institute of Directors Nigeria and has held prominent positions such as Chairman of the Major Energy Marketers Association of Nigeria and the Petroleum Downstream Group of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI).
His career also spans international experience, including roles in the United States, Cameroon, Ethiopia, and Belgium, where he managed Industrial and Wholesale Fuels for Africa and the Middle East, reporting to the Global I&W Manager.
“Adetunji Oyebanji’s career exemplifies dedication, innovation, and leadership. His impact on 11 Plc and the oil and gas sector at large will be remembered for years to come,” the Board said.
