United States President Donald Trump has praised Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, describing her as a “very respected woman” during this Year’s National Prayer Breakfast held in Washington, D.C.

Trump made the remarks while addressing participants at the annual faith-based gathering, which drew political leaders, clergy, and civic figures from across the world.

Acknowledging Mrs Tinubu’s presence among global dignitaries, the former U.S. president highlighted her influence and spiritual leadership, noting her pastoral role in one of Nigeria’s largest churches.

“We are honoured to be joined today by the First Lady of Nigeria, who also happens to serve as a Christian pastor at the largest church in Nigeria — a very respected woman. Thank you very much, it’s a great honour, a very respected person too,” Trump said to applause from the audience.

His comments placed the Nigerian First Lady among prominent international faith leaders attending the
event, underscoring her stature both in Nigeria and on the global stage.

The National Prayer Breakfast, held annually in February, brings together members of the U.S. Congress, religious leaders, policymakers and international guests for prayers and reflections on leadership, governance and national values.

Mrs Tinubu’s participation further highlighted Nigeria’s representation at the high-level gathering, which traditionally serves as a platform for fostering dialogue on faith, unity and public service among world leaders.
