The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced the sudden passing of one of its dedicated diplomats, Ms. Ziphorah Kela, who died on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at a private hospital in Abuja after a brief illness. Her death marks the end of a decade-long career marked by dedication, excellence, and service to Nigeria’s global diplomatic presence.
Ms. Kela, a member of the 22nd Regular Course of the Nigerian Foreign Service Academy, joined the Nigerian Foreign Service in 2013. Over the years, she served in several strategic divisions within the Ministry and held key foreign postings in Banjul, The Gambia, and Buenos Aires, Argentina. In each station, her professionalism and commitment left an indelible impression on colleagues and international partners alike.
Until her untimely demise, she served in the Protocol Team at the Presidential Villa, State House, Abuja, where she continued to demonstrate unwavering dedication to her duties. Her contributions were instrumental in promoting Nigeria’s image abroad and enhancing bilateral relations.
The Ministry described Ms. Kela as a “committed officer” whose legacy is etched in the strength of Nigeria’s diplomatic corps. Her death is a significant loss not only to the Ministry but also to the nation she served with such quiet distinction.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with her family, friends, and colleagues. May the Almighty grant her eternal rest and bring comfort to all who mourn her,” the Ministry stated.
