Chelsea were forced to settle for a frustrating 0–0 draw against Bournemouth in the Premier League on Saturday, bringing an end to their run of scoring in every match since the opening weekend.
Despite the goalless result, the Blues extended their unbeaten away streak in all competitions to seven games, with five wins and two draws in that stretch.
Bournemouth, who came into the match without a league win in their last five outings, started the brighter of the two sides.
Antoine Semenyo believed he had ended his goal drought just four minutes in, but the effort was chalked off for a tight offside decision.
Chelsea struggled to find rhythm early on, and their attacking problems worsened when Liam Delap was forced off with an injury in the 32nd minute.
The Cherries continued to carry the greater threat, and Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sánchez was called into action shortly before halftime, producing a crucial save to deny Evanilson from close range.
Meanwhile, the Blues, failed to record a single shot on target in a lacklustre first-half performance.
Chelsea showed slight improvement after the break but still offered little in the final third. Their midfield found it difficult to break Bournemouth’s compact defensive structure, and although late chances fell to both teams, neither could find the decisive goal.
The final statistics reflected the cagey nature of the contest: Chelsea had 54% possession and 10 attempts, but only two hit the target. Bournemouth managed eight shots, including three on goal, yet were equally wasteful.
The draw keeps Chelsea in sixth place as they continue to chase European qualification, while Bournemouth remain dangerously close to the relegation zone and still searching for their first league win in six matches.
