The Anambra State House of Assembly has officially confirmed the tragic death of Justice Azuka, the lawmaker representing Onitsha North Constituency.
In a statement issued by Speaker Somtochukwu Udeze, the Assembly expressed deep sorrow over the devastating loss, describing Azuka’s death as an act of unimaginable cruelty.
Azuka was abducted on December 24, 2024, and despite fervent hopes for his safe return, the Assembly now faces the painful reality of his demise.
Speaker Udeze described the late lawmaker as a dedicated representative who approached his legislative duties with passion, commitment, and responsibility. He was known for championing policies aimed at improving the lives of his constituents and actively contributing to Assembly debates.
Beyond politics, Azuka was a devoted family man, a loyal friend, and a leader of integrity who carried out his duties with diligence and humility. His untimely death, Udeze noted, has cast a heavy shadow over the Assembly, where he was not just a colleague but a brother.
Commending security agencies for their efforts in apprehending those responsible, the Speaker urged them to ensure that justice is served.
On behalf of the Assembly, Udeze extended heartfelt condolences to Azuka’s family, the people of Onitsha North 1, and the entire Ndi Anambra community.
