The Shinkafi Local Government Area of Zamfara State has allocated ₦70 million to support the school enrollment of 2,000 children displaced by bandit attacks.

The Chairman of Shinkafi LGA, Ibrahim Musa Shinkafi, disclosed this while addressing journalists after defending his local government’s budget at the Zamfara State House of Assembly in Gusau.

According to him, the funds will cover school uniforms, bags, and shoes for children who have been forced out of school due to persistent insecurity in the region.

Shinkafi reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to partnering with NGOs and donor agencies to help rebuild communities affected by banditry. He also highlighted other key priorities, including security, healthcare, agriculture, and public welfare, as part of efforts to restore normalcy and improve living conditions in the area.

This initiative comes amid growing concerns over the impact of banditry on education in northern Nigeria, with thousands of children unable to access formal schooling due to insecurity.
