A Civil Society Group, Kogi Conscience Liberation Movement in collaboration with Kogi Concerned Citizens Forum has called for a thorough investigation of the former Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello over alleged eighty billion Naira corruption and financial misappropriation case.

The Groups also called for proper investigation into the expenditure of the state from 2016 to January 27th 2024 to help put into proper perspective issues of alleged corruption in the State.

The Secretary of the Group, Comrade Okpanachi Jacob insisted that such investigation and possible prosecution would serve as deterrent for other Nigerians involved in corrupt practices.

Comrade Jacob also alleged that former Governor Yahaya Bello had initiated percentage salary payments to civil servants in State.

A former Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Mr. Achuba Simon pointed out the need for the State Government to reverse it’s law that allows building of houses for former Governors in the Government House.

Mr. Simon urged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to hasten investigation and prosecution of former Governor Yahaya Bello since he was no longer protected by immunity.

Efforts to get reactions from former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello was not successful as the Chief Press Secretary declined comments.
