A mild drama unfolded over the weekend at the birthday celebration of a Delta State billionaire after activist and political commentator Deji Adeyanju publicly declined a cap bearing the insignia of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The incident occurred during the event when fashion entrepreneur Seyi Vodi, who was seen wearing a similar Bola Tinubu–branded cap, approached Adeyanju during a brief exchange of pleasantries.
Seyi Vodi reportedly handed a copy of the cap to the activist, but Adeyanju immediately rejected it.
Adeyanju, a known critic of the current Bola Tinubu administration, was said to have declined the cap in line with his long-standing opposition to the government’s policies.
Shortly after the encounter, Seyi Vodi shared a video of the moment on social media, capturing Adeyanju’s swift refusal of the branded item. The clip has since circulated widely online, drawing mixed reactions from social media users, with some praising Adeyanju for standing by his political beliefs while others dismissed the incident as unnecessary.
Neither Adeyanju nor the event organisers have issued an official statement regarding the incident as of the time of filing this report.
