President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated players of Nigerian descent who played key roles in the Seattle Seahawks’ victory at Super Bowl 60, held on Sunday at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.
The Seahawks defeated the New England Patriots 29–13 to secure their second Lombardi Trophy.
Among the standout players of Nigerian heritage in the Seahawks’ lineup were quarterback Jalen Oluwaseun Milroe, defensive star Nick Emmanwori, veteran linebacker Uchenna Nwosu, linebacker Boye Maye, and offensive lineman Olu Oluwatimi, all of whom contributed significantly to the championship win.
President Tinubu also extended his congratulations to Michael Onwenu, a Nigerian-American offensive lineman who featured for the New England Patriots and is widely regarded as one of the most dominant players in his position.
The President commended the athletes for bringing pride and honour to Nigeria, particularly Emmanwori, Nwosu, and Maye, who hoisted Nigeria’s flag in celebration of the Seahawks’ Super Bowl triumph.
According to President Tinubu, the achievements of the players underscore Nigeria’s global reputation for excellence, resilience, and sporting talent.
He wished them continued success and more victories in their professional careers.
