Organised labour in Niger state has extended the ongoing seven day warning strike by additional seven days.

The strike which began this Monday has now entered its fifth day while the additional seven day warning strike begins effective midnight Tuesday next week.

This is contained in a statement jointly signed by the State Chairman of NLC Comrade Yakubu Garba and that of Trade Union Congress TUC Comrade Ibrahim Garba made available to Newsmen in Minna.

It however said the extension followed inconclusiveness of negotiations between representatives of Niger state government and organised labour on state workers demands.

It was also necessitated by lack of commitment by ministry for local government and twenty five local government chairmen on resolving the issues of contention within the warning strike window as it affect local government salary payment.
