Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, has extended warm congratulations to Ambassador Cheikh Niang on his appointment as the new Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Senegal.
In a statement issued from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Abuja, Tuggar praised Niang’s diplomatic credentials and extensive international experience, noting that his appointment comes at a crucial time for regional and global cooperation.
Until his new appointment, Ambassador Niang served as Senegal’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, where he earned recognition for his diplomatic finesse and leadership. He has also previously held high-level postings as Senegal’s Ambassador to Japan, the United States, and South Africa, in addition to serving as Consul General in New York.
Minister Tuggar expressed confidence that Ambassador Niang’s vast experience will bring added value to his new role, while also reaffirming Nigeria’s commitment to deepening the long-standing and dynamic ties between both West African nations.
“Nigeria looks forward to further strengthening our historic, strong, and vibrant relationship for the benefit of all our peoples,” the statement read.
The Ministry’s spokesperson, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, signed the release on behalf of the Minister.
