There was pandemonium at the Faculty of Arts, Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, after a female student attacked and bit a lecturer during a heated altercation.
The incident, which occurred on campus, reportedly began when Dr. Chukwudi Michael interrupted the student while she was filming a dance video in the faculty corridor.
Eyewitnesses said the lecturer attempted to pass by and tapped the student on the shoulder, saying, “Excuse me.” However, she reacted angrily, claiming she had been hit. The situation quickly escalated into a physical confrontation, with the student grabbing the lecturer’s clothes and later biting him on both arms.
A viral video of the incident, widely shared on social media, captured the student’s furious reaction.
Speaking on the matter, UNIZIK’s Chief Security Officer, Ken Chukwurah, confirmed that the university was investigating the altercation.
“Yes, there was an incident like that. Investigations are ongoing, and the school will make its position known once we conclude our findings,” Chukwurah stated.
Sources say Dr. Michael had asked the student to delete the video, fearing he had been recorded, leading to the violent exchange. Images circulating online show bite marks on the lecturer’s arms.
Further reports identify the student as a 300-level History and International Studies major and the daughter of a lecturer in the university’s Engineering Department.
