Court Orders Police To Pay MKO’s Wife N50m Damages
A Federal Capital Territory High Court in Gudu, Abuja, has ordered the Inspector General of Police to pay N50m damages to the wife of late Chief M. K. O Abiola, Prof Zainab Abiola, for violating her fundamental rights. The court, in the judgment that was delivered by Justice Modupe Osho-Adebiyi, also ordered the police to apologise to her in two national newspapers. Kaduna Senator Awards Full Scholarships to Bethel Baptist Kidnap Survivors
Senator Sunday Katung, representing Kaduna South Senatorial District, has granted full scholarships to five students of Bethel Baptist High School, who were among the victims of a 2021 bandit attack and mass abduction. On July 5, 2021, armed bandits stormed the school in Damishi, Kaduna, abducting 121 students. While most have since graduated, five remained in school. In a move to support their education and future, Senator Katung announced the scholarships during a fundraising event organized by the Kaduna Baptist Conference to rebuild the school.
