The Kano State Private and Voluntary Institutions Board (KSPVIB) has finalized plans to begin a state-wide monitoring, evaluation, and quality assurance exercise across all private schools. The initiative, slated to commence next week, aims to ensure compliance with minimum education standards and improve the overall quality of learning in the state.
This announcement was made by the Executive Secretary of KSPVIB, Comrade Baba Abubakar Umar, during the Kano Sterling Schools Connect Tour Program organized by the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS).
Comrade Baba reiterated that education remains the cornerstone of the NNPP-led administration under Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf. He highlighted the declaration of a state of emergency in the education sector and a notable budgetary increase—rising from 29.5% in 2024 to 30.5% in 2025—as clear evidence of the administration’s commitment.
“We are taking proactive steps to ensure that all schools meet the required standards. Our mission is to provide quality and functional education for all students in Kano State,” Comrade Baba stated. He urged private school owners, associations like NAPPS, and stakeholders to support the government’s efforts in transforming the education system.
Acknowledging the critical role private schools play in the state’s educational landscape, Comrade Baba praised their contribution despite the numerous challenges they face. He also reaffirmed the Board’s commitment to sustaining and enhancing educational reforms.
NAPPS Kano State Chairman, Alhaji Imam Ahmad Zubairu, assured parents that their children would receive quality education and sound moral discipline. He called on parents to uphold their responsibilities, particularly timely fee payments, to sustain educational progress.
Alhaji Zubairu pledged NAPPS’ full cooperation with government initiatives aimed at positioning Kano as a model for educational development in Nigeria.
Also speaking at the event, the Chairman of the Association of Model Islamic Schools (AMIS), Barrister Dr. Sa’eed Bello, lauded Governor Yusuf’s commitment to revitalizing the education sector and called on all stakeholders to contribute to the ongoing reforms.
