Eminent Islamic scholars and clerics on Saturday converged at the inner palace of the Emir of Ilorin to offer special prayers for Nigeria’s peace, unity, and progress. The prayer session, convened by the Emir of Ilorin and Chairman of the Kwara State Council of Traditional Rulers, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, sought divine intervention for the stability of the nation and the successful tenure of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.
In his opening address, Alhaji Sulu-Gambari emphasized the importance of continuous prayers for national cohesion and prosperity. He expressed hope that Almighty Allah would restore peace to troubled parts of the country and bless the efforts of both the federal and state governments in creating a safer, prosperous Nigeria for all citizens.
The solemn session was led by the Chief Imam of Ilorin, Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Soliu, joined by other prominent religious leaders including the Imam Imale of Ilorin, Sheikh AbdulHamid Abdullahi, and Imam Gambari.
Representing Governor AbdulRazaq, the Special Adviser and Counselor, Alhaji Saadu Salahu, reiterated the significance of the gathering, describing it as a spiritual step towards ensuring the continued success of President Tinubu’s administration and that of Governor AbdulRazaq in Kwara State.
“Ilorin, being a citadel of Islamic knowledge and a community guided by the Qur’an, remains a sacred ground for divine supplications,” Salahu noted. “The Emir of Ilorin stands as a symbol of piety and leadership, making this palace a spiritual hub for prayers that can positively shape our nation’s future.”
The gathering underscored Ilorin’s longstanding reputation as a spiritual center where faith leaders regularly seek Allah’s blessings for the country’s leaders and people.
