Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has sanctioned the release of ₦2.185 billion to settle long-overdue entitlements for former councillors who served in the state between 2004 and 2024.

The announcement was made on Thursday when the governor hosted the leadership of the Kebbi State Councillors’ Forum during a courtesy visit at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi. This was confirmed in a statement released to the press by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ahmed Idris.

In his remarks, Governor Idris directed that a portion of the approved funds be disbursed immediately by Friday, with the balance to be paid in full by the end of July.

Reacting to the development, Chairman of the Councillors’ Forum, Bello Gulumbe, commended the governor for breaking a long-standing cycle of neglect, noting that successive administrations had failed to settle these entitlements.

Gulumbe further pledged the forum’s unwavering support for Governor Idris, assuring that all former councillors in the state are now united in backing his administration to deliver on its promises.
