Tension rose across Bayelsa State on Thursday after reports emerged that the Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, collapsed in his office and was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Yenagoa.
The incident, which occurred at about 1:30 p.m., triggered immediate concern among government officials and the public.
According to sources, the deputy governor suddenly slumped while attending to official duties, prompting his aides and security team to initiate an urgent medical response.
Ewhrudjakpo was first taken to the hospital’s emergency unit before being transferred to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for further treatment.
While an official explanation has not been released, medical personnel hinted that the health scare could be related to a potential cardiac issue.
The FMC quickly became a hub of activity as senior government officials, political associates, and clerics arrived to offer support and pray for his recovery.
As of the time of this report, the Bayelsa State Government has not issued a formal statement, leaving residents and stakeholders anxiously awaiting updates on the deputy governor’s condition.
