Lagos State University (LASU) has condemned a circulating comedy skit that depicted a mock bandit invasion on its campus.

The skit, produced by Datreez Entertainment TV and later deleted, was titled “Bandits Prank on Lasuites.”

It featured young men dressed in jalabiya and turbans storming a lecture hall, while another group emerged dramatically from a car. The scenes startled some students, causing a few to flee, while others watched in shock—sparking widespread criticism online.

Many viewers labelled the prank “insensitive,” especially given Nigeria’s ongoing security concerns.

In a statement, LASU spokesperson Thomas-Onashile Oluwayemisi said the university strongly condemns any act that portrays terrorism, banditry, or violent extremism.

She stressed that the institution did not authorize the skit and does not support pranks that could incite fear or disrupt peace on campus.

Responding to the backlash, Datreez Entertainment stated that the video was recorded in a controlled environment and was never intended to incite panic.

The team described it as a social experiment produced purely for entertainment, adding that no weapons were used and all participants were fully aware of the concept. They issued an apology to LASU and clarified that the production followed safety precautions.

This development follows a similar decision by UNILAG in October, when the institution banned content creators from filming on campus without official approval due to rising cases of unauthorized recordings.
