Four persons kidnapped earlier this year along the Omu-Aran–Isanlu-Isin Road in Kwara State have regained their freedom, security sources have confirmed.

The victims were reportedly released and are currently receiving medical attention in different hospitals across Ilorin and Omu-Aran.

Confirming the development, a security source said, “The released individuals are receiving treatment in various hospitals in Ilorin and Omu-Aran respectively. They are responding well to care.”

However, relief over their release was short-lived as another violent incident was recorded in the area. One person was killed while another was abducted along the Correctional Centre Road, heightening tension in the community.

According to the security source, the latest attack has triggered panic among residents of Isanlu-Isin and surrounding communities.

“Residents of Isanlu-Isin and neighbouring communities are in a panicking mood, and as a result, some schools have closed down,” the source disclosed.

Meanwhile, security operatives have arrested a suspected bandit in Igbaja, headquarters of Ifelodun Local Government Area of the state. The suspect was reportedly disguising himself as a beggar to evade detection.

“The suspect was caught disguising himself as a beggar in Igbaja,” the source said, adding that intelligence reports had earlier revealed the tactics being used by criminal elements in the area.

The source further disclosed that some bandits fled Baba Sango after realising that their informants, who were posing as beggars and roaming towns and villages across Kwara South, were being tracked by security agencies.

It was also gathered that bandits previously hibernating in Baba Sango and Oro-Ago are spreading to other parts of the senatorial district, adopting disguises to avoid arrest as security operations intensify.

Security agencies are said to be on heightened alert, while residents have been urged to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements to authorities.
