The Honourable Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, and Israel’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Her Excellency Sharren Miriam Haskel-Harpaz, held a high-level political dialogue which aims at reaffirming the strategic partnership between Nigeria and Israel.
The meeting, which took place in a warm and cordial atmosphere, underscored the shared commitment of both nations to deepen cooperation in security, counter-terrorism, technology, and economic development.
The technical session was co-chaired by Ambassador Janet Olisa, Director (Regions) at Nigeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Ambassador Sharon Bar-Li, Deputy Director General and Head of the Africa Division at Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Discussions spanned critical multilateral and bilateral issues, including intelligence sharing, counter-terrorism strategies, and enhanced capacity-building initiatives.
Both sides acknowledged that security and terrorism are global concerns requiring coordinated international efforts. They pledged to strengthen intelligence sharing, tackle terrorism financing, and improve security training.
Beyond security, the dialogue explored collaboration in technology, innovation for border management, agriculture, tourism, culture, immigration, and consular matters. The nations also agreed to introduce exchange study tours to foster mutual understanding and skills transfer.
In a joint commitment, Nigeria and Israel resolved to maintain a more robust bilateral relationship with regular political dialogues in the future.
