FGGC Benin Teacher Under Investigation Over Alleged Misconduct

The Federal Ministry of Education has launched an investigation into allegations of misconduct against a teacher, Mr. Jatto, at the Federal Government Girls College (FGGC), Benin City.

In a statement issued by the Ministry’s Director of Press and Public Relations, Mrs. Folasade Boriowo, the school’s principal has been summoned to Abuja for further clarification on the matter.

However, a preliminary investigation conducted by a committee set up by the school authorities suggests that the case was not one of sexual harassment but rather an instance of high-handedness in classroom management that was misinterpreted.

According to the statement, Mr. Jatto was supervising a prep session at the time of the incident and was responding to a rowdy classroom situation.

The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and the integrity of educational institutions, urging the public to remain patient as the investigation continues. The final findings will be made public in due course.
