Some Coalition of Civil Society Groups from Omala Local Government Area in Kogi State have staged a peaceful protest to the Force Headquarters over alleged killings in a Community, Agojeju-Odo in the State.

While delivering a protest letter to the Police on the alleged killings, the Convener of the Group, Mr. Maji Shehu said that most people from the community had fled over fear of being killed.

Mr. Shehu explained that it had also become impossible for farmers to visit their farms due to such attacks and called on security agencies to urgently intervene.

He said that although the State Government was making effort, the killing had continued unabated.

The co-converner of the Group, Mr Akumabi Ojogbane said the crisis emanated from the problem between the herders and the AGATU people in Benue State.

He said Omala Local Government shared boundaries with Benue State hence the infiltration and invasion.

A member of the Group and an indigene of Agojeju-Odo, Mrs. Juliet Paul urged the security agencies to deploy their men to the Local Government to restore peace.

The Group carried PLA cards with inscriptions such as: “Restore peace To Omala Now”, “Omala Is Under Siege, IGP Please Act Now” and “Our People Can Go To Farm Anymore, Restore Our Land”.
