Following days of online speculation, Imisi’s mother has finally broken her silence over viral claims that she abandoned her children and only resurfaced after her daughter’s Big Brother Naija Season 10victory.
In an emotional message shared with the public, she expressed gratitude to God and to Nigerians for their support, saying she had received “mercy from God” despite the backlash.
“Thank you so much to all Nigerians. I’m truly grateful,” she said. “I’ve been living with my younger sister in Ajah. Some people didn’t want me around, but others welcomed me, clothed me, and fed me. I’ve been happy and at peace.”
Addressing the criticism that she neglected her children, Imisi’s mother said she had chosen to remain calm despite the harsh comments online.
“Some people said I neglected my children. I’m thankful to both those who mean well and those who don’t. The elders say we should be swift to hear but slow to reply. The Bible teaches us to always stand for the truth.”
She also spoke about her fallout with a woman named Adeola, who allegedly made unfulfilled promises to help the family during Imisi’s rise to fame.
“Adeola that promised them the other day is no longer available, and now I’m the one they’re after,” she explained. “The same Adeola is now following Opeyemi. She didn’t fulfill any of her promises. I was the one running around, doing everything I could to make sure my daughter succeeded and lifted me out of poverty.”
Recalling her experience during Imisi’s time in the BBNaija house, she said she wasn’t even informed ahead of time when her daughter was to leave the show.
“Even the day I went to Big Brother, I was only told around 4 p.m. to dress up because Imisi would be leaving that day. Is that how it’s supposed to be?”
Imisi’s mother therefore called for love, peace, and understanding among Nigerians.
“Let’s learn to bridle our tongues and stop tearing each other down. Why can’t we just live in love instead of envy and hate?” She concluded.
